Looking for simple projects to “up the ante” in your home design? Here are 4 weekend projects that anyone can do!

#1) Paint the ceiling in a small area of your home; foyer, bathroom…. Painting a ceiling a dark color makes the space feel intimate and formal. Add a crystal chandelier and light will reflect off the dark ceiling and create prisms of light around the whole room!  b

#2) Apply wallpaper, metallic paneling, bead board or just paint to the back of a shelf or glass door cabinet. This draws your eye to that cabinet creating a interesting focal point in a room. Make sure to style the accessories inside the cabinet!

#3) Install chair rail and wallpaper on the top portion of your wall rather than the center. It draws your eye up to where you could put a unique light and is an updated way to use chair rail!

 #4) Use inexpensive books from the Goodwill or second hand stores to decorate sparsly decorated shelves and coffee tables. Make sure you choose one color scheme as this will create the look of an intended accessory rather than the look of a pile of old books strewn around.
