Even though it may seem ridiculous to wait months & months for home materials, time really does fly! Chances are you will swap out quick decision pieces anyways so it’s worth the wait for the right pieces, especially quality pieces. The same was true for the Thury Hill Project, time flew!
We first started this process in April of 2021 when the homeowners wanted to sell their starter home for something larger for their growing family. The cute ranch style home in the northwestern suburbs went on and off the market within 24 hours of listing! It was the first time I had to climb through a window to let potential buyers in because people were locking the doors from the inside…was it to try to deter people from putting in more offers?! Thankfully, my gymnastic skills came in handy and no buyers left site unseen! We then secured an extended closing in order to find the family a new place. Not much time was needed, though, we were able to find the family their new home shortly after, lucky to have missed the challenge of repeated, multiple offer situations. They had an accepted offer on their first try! The new home they purchased was a custom built brick, two-story in Maple Grove. Surrounded by other beautiful homes but reaching the age where an interior remodel was needed. Which was exactly what they planned to do.
A quick real estate process made up for some extra time awaiting product for their remodel. Worker shortages + COVID really extended product manufacturing and delivery times and we are only now seeing an improvement. The project has been basically complete for months now but was missing one final piece, the coordinating pendant above the sink. It was well over 6 months before this piece arrived but it was so necessary as it matched the pretty Regina Andrews wall scone in the beverage nook!
Adding extra storage and a curated focal wall was something this kitchen was in desperate need of which is why the floor to ceiling wall of cabinetry was added to the old entryway to the dining room.
We first chose Benjamin Moore’s color of the year “Aegean Teal” for this focal wall. Which tells how fast time flies because this was the color for 2021, when we first started working on this space! This color is stunning in many kitchens across the web but 2 other colors were selected as options for the custom cabinets, just to be sure! It’s always important to try color options in the home because one color may look great in one space but completely different in another. The photos speak for themselves so check them out. Before + After photos, always the best way to end a project!
