I recently started volunteering with the wonderful organization Dress For Success. If you are not familiar with them, they are a non profit organization whose mission is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. I volunteer at the Twin Cities location as an “image coach” where I assist individual women in choosing career and interview attire, helping them prep to get back on their feet. I can not say enough about this organization as I feel that a woman who has the ability to support herself also has the confidence and independence to grow in every aspect of her life.

I was given the honor of participating in the Dress For Success fall gala “One Night One Mission” as the lead designer of the event and an adventure it has been! Choosing color schemes, materials and layouts is one of the best parts of my job and to be able to provide my expertise to this organization is amazing!

 

 

 

 

 

This year the gala will be held at Muse Event Center in Minneapolis, a large multi-level venue with all the bells and whistles for a fantastic event. Between the local event rental companies and brainstorming with the DFS team we have come up with an exciting plan that is sure to be a night to remember!

 

 

 

 

 

As a way to gain perspective on Muse events, I was invited to attend a vendor fair “Christmas in July”. Local vendors showcased samples of their products and services. The food and drinks were wonderful and I was able to get a good grasp on the type of service that could be expected at Muse. The venue works with Crave catering and as you can see in the photo of the dessert table they put out quite a spread!

 

With less than 1 month until One Night One Mission, there is much more preparation to do but I know this years event will be amazing! The more people who come and support them, the more the organization can grow and support our local community. There will be a live band, silent auction, fashion show, beer & wine wall, beautiful decor and of course food & drinks.  Tickets are now available for purchase on the Dress For Success webpage (link on the above invite).
