A few weeks a go I had the pleasure of traveling to San Francis for the sold out real estate convention, Inman Connect. I was going to be speaking at the convention along side Joel Goodrich, Global Luxury Property Specialist with Coldwell Banker on the panel “Introvert or Extrovert: How to Use Your Personality Style To Double Your Business”. Joel is a rockstar in the California luxury real estate world and it was fabulous to speak with him for our talk during the morning sessions!
The week long event brings together more than 4,000 top-producing agents and brokers, CEOs of leading real estate franchises, MLS and association leaders, tech entrepreneurs and marketing executives, to network, make deals and explore the newest technology. So when they approached me to come speak, I was like ohhh yea I will!
The “Agent Connect” session took place on Tuesday morning featuring many top producing industry pros. Joel was dubbed the “extrovert” while I was/am the “introvert”. Many people have said to me that they never would have pegged me as an introvert but it definitely depends on who you ask! Those who knew me in my younger years know I can be a bit reserved and quiet at first, those who may have met me as an adult may think of me more as an extrovert. My videos, regular posting and daily updates have been key ways that I stay in touch with my audience and former clients without putting myself in awkward positions of random door knocking, cold calls and other things that would make an introvert cringe but can make an extrovert excel in the sales of real estate!
The video speaks for itself so I won’t go into too much detail on our panel but the one thing I wanted to add was that social media is not a singular path to building your business. Once you make those connections you still need to get out there and meet people! Don’t hide behind the “introvert” label, you have to make yourself uncomfortable to become conformable with new things and this will lead to new business! Everyone has strengths and weaknesses that they need to work through or accentuate to bring their business and personal lives to the next level. Enjoy the panel video, hope you find some great pointers wether you are an introvert or an extrovert!
