Style is constantly changing….evolving with the times….but always stays true to the way people are presently living their lives. Homes have forgone the large entertainment centers built to hide gigantic tvs and now opt for areas that fit the sleek, low-profile designs. Days of kitchen desk areas and small master bathrooms have gone away, hooray! People design and decorate their homes to support the way they live; convenience, function and style are the main factors that drive these design trends.
The way a room is accessorized has been changing too. Most recently, with the boom of the social media pics “shelfies”, groupings of home decor items has become very popular. May it be coordinating books on a coffee table or jewelry perfectly positioned, this trend of grouping items has created a way to display items that you use on a daily basis in a “pretty” way. This allows people to make their clutter look organized and trendy! You are able to readily access things without digging through a drawer for a necklace or putting a book back on the shelf every time you are done with it, just set it back on the display and it looks like a perfectly planned centerpiece! Being able to take off my jewelry at night and put it right on the dresser has saved me so much time, all of my current favs are right there for me to look at and they don’t end up all over the room creating a mess that needs to be cleaned up. Its like putting a hamper in a convenient spot for your husband, if its right there for him to use then he doesn’t throw his clothes all over the floor!
Along with perfectly positioned table top decor, the trend of nicely positioned photos has also made a huge come back. A great way to display your family photos, sans the mismatched frames sitting all over the house, is to replace your old frames with new ones and hang them evenly on the wall. Slightly different frames can create more interest, add black and white or sepia toned photos OR all one type of frame with multicolored photos. Keeping one element constant will help to make the look planned but unplanned….put together but not too perfect!
Want to try the table top decor trend? Simply go through the drawers you use most, choose some items that you use on a daily basis…perfume, a watch, current reading book… set these items on a pretty tra, and voila! You’ll surely find tons of gorgeous pieces that you already own!
