We are what we wear? Mom always told you not to judge a book by its cover or a person by their appearance but is there some legitimate truth to the way we dress and peoples perception of us? According to Forbes, there is strong truth to your clothing choices and what they say about you. If you see a person on the street wearing scrubs you most likely assume they work in the medical field, someone in a police uniform obviously a cop. We use uniforms to show people who we are.
I am confident that when I get up in the morning and put on something that makes me feel good it directly affects my attitude that day and ultimately how I am perceived. The business wear I choose shows that I care about what I am doing. On the contrary, I choose personal wear that makes me feel like me and shows a more casual side of my life. I have been lucky the past few years to be able to transition from a 9 to 5 job that required a uniform every day to a career that allows me to have more freedom with my dress.
While working at that 9-5 job I had the pleasure of meeting Amber Schaefer, now, an independent consultant at Lularoe. At that time we were both dental assistants working at a fast paced pediatric clinic. The every day attire consisted of scrubs and white flats so the move to clothing sales for Amber and real estate for me created a big shift in our every day wardrobe! We continued our relationship after I started full time in the real estate business when I helped her family sell their home. We then went on to find the next one where she and her family currently live!
Amber couldn’t be a better choice for the first 2017 girl boss feature. Fashion is such a major factor in our daily lives. Most of us strive to simplify our daily routines and when Amber started with Lularoe I knew it had to be a multifunctional clothing line. One that fit in with her busy life. A motivated and hardworking employee by day and mom by night. Amber had the typical busy life of a working mom. Seeking more freedom in her work and with the support of her hubby, she decided to jump in head first and become an independent consultant with Lularoe. Lularoe offers comfortable pieces that can be dressed up or down depending on the time of day.
While interviewing Amber for this months feature I had the opportunity to be styled by her AND model some of these awesome clothes! A kid in a candy store would best describe how I felt that day! Try on clothes and take pictures? Sureeee!! Laura Rae Photography captured this day perfectly!
My first piece I purchased from Amber was the “irma”, a long T that is fitted up top and flares out and the bottom. Perfect to wear to work paired with a blazer and heels. After work, I can then easily swap out the blazer for a comfortable cardigan and tennis shoes for evening errands. The leggings speak for themselves, just put them on! Buttery soft fabric and multitudes of patterns and colors! They can be worn with everything!
During this fun session of trying on clothes and chatting with my girls I asked Amber why she chose Lularoe. Not knowing a whole lot about the companies roots I wanted to learn more! A single mother of 7 children started the company looking for financial freedom and more time for her kids. Most women strive for those exact things; freedom, stability & confidence and that encompasses all that is Lularoe. “My goal has always been to work for myself. To make that hardworking motivation benefit and grow a business for myself. What that business would be was not clear until I signed up with LuLaRoe.” Amber wears these clothes daily. It is the reason she is passionate about what she is selling.
What piece keeps the women coming back? According to Amber, there isn’t one particular piece that keep em coming back, they come back for all of it! “Clients return because they enjoy the simple designs, comfortable fabrics, and versatility of the pieces with LuLaRoe. The clothes can be dressed up, down, layered and styled in so many fun innovative ways. You’re getting great bang for your buck”. I know I will be back and hope you will try out a few things from my girl! She’ll surely help you simplify your life!
