This week was the “curb appeal” challenge and being down $1000 dollars, it was very tricky to make this space pop! Our house needed the most work on the exterior and every penny was needed. We had to scale back on the landscaping and repairs of the porch due to our extremely low budget but we did the best with what we had.
The house was brought down a level by painting it a muted blue and accenting with traditional white and modern black colors. We added large column posts to the base of the staircase and then painted them a fresh white color. The door stood out in bold, black paint and was accented by two large lamps. We added hanging plants to the porch and comfortable lounge furniture for the family to sit and watch the kids play in the yard.
The entryway got a fresh coat of paint throughout. The stairway was painted with a dark durable floor paint and accented with white pilasters. A dark gray was done on the ceiling to make the space feel intimate and elegant, the crystal chandelier accented the dark ceiling.
All in all, it was not our best challenge but being down that much money and having so many projects that required attention made it a tough one! I think the outcome was pretty good considering the set backs! What do you think?!
